My Day Today

I figure it’s Father’s Day and I should be able to post a favorite photo…maybe even two if I want to! It’s kind of the same as your birthday in that the title of the day itself gives you a license to do whatever you feel like. Well…within reason anyway. I really liked this photo of some Daylilies. What you can’t see is the hundreds of other ones close by that together are creating a sea of orange stretching 20 yards. This is their time of year around here…early summer.

A long time ago someone told me that a Daylilies unopened flower is good to eat too. For instance, you can slice them and put into salads. I remember trying that once. It wasn’t exactly awful…but I decided carrots, cucumbers or peppers, or any vegetable was probably more to my liking, and that any flower is much better for looking at rather than eating.

Flowers are an appropriate photo today for me because I plan on working in my flower beds some. I enjoy it actually, and it’s good honest work. And besides, the gardens can really use some care and weeding. The main event however is being able to see and talk with my sons. As a Dad, that’s more special today.

So, I hope you enjoy the Daylilies. And if you are a Father, please do something that gives you a little pleasure. It’s your day today.
