If you’ve been downtown near the White River State Park area anytime in the last year or two, then you’ve probably seen the transformation of theĀ Marriott Hotel site taking shape. Transformation really is the word too. I’m told there will be four Marriott Hotel properties here eventually including this towering structure. Right now there are 22 floors that are built with another 12 more to be added…for a total of 34 stories. With the sleek blue-shaded glass exterior, it’s certainly a distinctive design.
When I was there recently I thought to myself that Marriott really lucked into a good thing here at this location. They came in here years and years ago before Indianapolis made a commitment to develop any of the White River State Park adjacent areas…before Victory Field, the Eiteljorge Museum, Indiana State Museum, IMAX and the NCAA National Headquarters moved across the street. With the Zoo, Circle Centre, Lucas Oil Stadium, Conseco Fieldhouse and all of downtown nearby, this has got to be one of the most strategically situated properties around. I don’t see how they can go wrong there. Obviously Marriott feels the same way.
