UFO Close Encounter

Posted on September 7th, 2011 by Richard. Categories: Just for Fun

Luckily I was far enough away but had my camera with me and zoom lens ready as a UFO darkened the sky briefly before landing in downtown Indianapolis today. Everyone on foot scattered, taking shelter wherever they could, and traffic turned or sped away as the giant saucer-shaped craft hovered close to ground-level near the corner of Illinois and Washington Streets. As you can imagine after taking this shot, I didn’t wait around to see if any aliens disembarked or tractor beams  were employed to actually pull anyone or anything on board, as I ran around the corner to a safe distance. In what seemed like only 10 seconds later, the ship gained altitude again and was gone, headed toward the southeast and out of sight. I was astonished at what I had seen like everyone else I talked with and just thankful that everything seemed to be OK and especially that I had a photo record of the close encounter.

Seasonal Shift

If you are like me, it felt unusual looking for a jacket before going out, much less wearing one. But I’ve been thankkful to have one on a few times lately. Just a day ago the temps were at knocking on the door for breaking the 100° heat record, then all of a sudden Fall weather is here. There are still lots of really warm days ahead, this is just what it’s like in Indiana. The weather here always gives you a little taste of what is to come so you can get ready for it.

Indiana Landmarks Center

This window is one of many other stained glass windows in the Landmarks Center at 12th and Central. I liked this photo not only because the window is beautiful, but also the reflection seen of the trees and grass was interesting. The building is a stunning restoration of the once Central Avenue Methodist Church, now home to Indiana Landmarks. The free tours there on Fridays and Saturdays through October are highly recommended.

Selling Homes One by One

Posted on September 1st, 2011 by Richard. Categories: For Home Buyers, For Home Sellers

A transaction I had been working on for quite a while closed today. As closings go it was a little different because the buyer wasn’t local and couldn’t attend on the day closing was to be. So the seller signed their documents here, then copies overnighted to the buyer and signed the next day, and overnighted back to be finalized on day three today. Usually buyers and sellers along with their agents meet at a title company together to close, and the whole process takes usually a little less than an hour. But I’ve seen all kinds of variations of that. Like, one party is only free in the morning and the other party is only free in the afternoon…so a two part closing. Or occasionally there is a divorcing couple who are selling but don’t want to be in the same room as each other. That’s kind of fun to deal with, but we do. Anyway or either way, all’s well that ends well so they say. My focus is on making sure my client is happy with the outcome and try very hard so that the other party is too. That time is an important one in people’s lives and the closing should be friendly and a have positive energy to it. One chapter ending and another beginning for everyone.

I had closings on my mind so I took a look at the stats today for the nine counties that make up the greater metropolitan Indianapolis area. Our Board of Realtors site says that so far this year 14,353 homes or condos  have sold/closed in 2011. And there are 15,193 homes or condos that are listed for sale. If you are one of those that has a home for sale or thinking about putting your home on the market, as you can see, homes are selling…one by one.

Mini Park

Photo taken in the small one lot-sized park in the Old Northside neighborhood. Very tranquil setting with trees, flowers, bushes, a gazebo and and several areas to sit with benches. The only sound was water lightly splashing from the fountain when near enough to hear. I don’t know the story behind this place, but I’m pretty sure it’s not a municiply owned public park.  It feels like it’s a donation of and maintained by a resident(s) of the area. A nice surprise stumbling onto it.
